To say I have been incredibly lucky in the past year is a colossal understatement. It has been an emotional rollercoaster in so many ways. I gained valuable experience second shooting a summer of weddings (even a couple in Jasper! *swoon*). I struggled with the not-so-glamourous side of being a photographer, including lots of self-doubt and fear (and improving my organizational skills). I had the opportunity to be featured on two wedding blogs, YegWed and Smitten. I began working with and second shooting for Nicole Ashley, an amazing woman all around and one of my personal heroes.
I want to thank each and every person that has followed my work and supported me over the past year. All of you wonderful people are the reason I am able to do what I do – without you, it simply wouldn’t be possible. Thank you from the very bottom of my heart. A very special thank you to all of the new friends I’ve made this year. You all came into my life very suddenly, in an explosion of creativity, optimism and inspiration, and I wouldn’t have it any other way. Thank you for allowing me into your lives and letting me share in your successes. You guys rock!
And so, I will leave you with some very wise words of one of my favourite authors as you peruse my favourite images and experiences from 2015.
“I hope you will have a wonderful year, that you’ll dream dangerously and outrageously, that you’ll make something that didn’t exist before you made it, that you will be loved and that you will be liked, and that you will have people to love and to like in return. And, most importantly (because I think there should be more kindness and more wisdom in the world right now), that you will, when you need to be, be wise, and that you will always be kind…
May your coming year be filled with magic and dreams and good madness. I hope you read some fine books and kiss someone who thinks you’re wonderful, and don’t forget to make some art — write or draw or build or sing or live as only you can. And I hope, somewhere in the next year, you surprise yourself.”
― Neil Gaiman
One of my biggest accomplishments is being able to work with this amazing team of creatives. All of you inspire me to do better each and every day, and you are a wonderful example of the kind of generous, open-hearted people that can be met if you open your heart and mind to new possibilities and experiences.
Cheers to an eventful, successful and happy new year!
